Great question! Leadership is an ongoing learning process and I thank you for your question to make me stop and think about this.

Reflecting on my personal values and the alignment of those with the Company's values would certainly be one of the top takeaways since being in my role. Holding myself to account with this aspect has been incredibly beneficial. Creating and maintaining high levels of trust with the Team. Understanding leadership sets the culture. If the Team isn't performing as well as hoped, I need to reflect upon myself and my own performance. I'll often ask myself a range of questions depending on the circumstance such as:
Do I need to adapt my communication style to cover the large range of diverse people in the Team?
Am I communicating enough?
Am I listening enough?
Am I allowing the right balance of autonomy?
Or am I avoiding an issue, allowing poor performance?

The Team feels more engaged and committed to their work when they see their leaders taking accountability seriously. This sense of ownership trickles down to team members, leading to higher job satisfaction. When we embrace accountability, we are more willing to acknowledge our mistakes and learn from them. A culture of accountability promotes open and transparent communication. The Team feels comfortable sharing their progress, challenges, and ideas, leading to better collaboration and teamwork. This mindset of continuous improvement encourages personal growth and development. The results create a positive work environment, which contributes to higher employee retention and loyalty. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more likely to stay at IGO.
