My experience of flexible working has been great, and I think IGO walks the talk when it comes to being open minded, progressive and innovative on this front.
The example that comes to mind is from a few years ago when I was working FIFO on an 8/6 roster at Nova. I was keen to travel through South America for an extended period, and through collaboration with my supervisor, I was authorised to take a mixture of annual and unpaid leave for a total of three months off - all whilst retaining my role and position. Speaking to other travellers while I was away (particularly people from the USA and Canada), they were astounded that a company could (and would!) provide such flexibility.
Aside from being authorised to take the leave, I was really impressed with the fact that IGO considered the concept wholistically - not only that I was looking to take a sabbatical, but that this was also a development opportunity for someone to step up and be seconded into my role while I was away.
